Working with iGames Inc. for my WorkU internship has been an amazing and very rewarding experience!
At iGames, I excelled in collaboration between multiple departments, contributing to our collective success through effective communication and innovative productivity practices. My ability to work independently was equally notable; I demonstrated strong organizational skills and a knack for taking initiative.
I feel deeply impacted by my internship with iGames Inc. Through the guidance and encouragement from my mentors, I have become so much more confident in my skills and ability to adapt, take initiative, and stand up for myself. The work I was given was something that honestly made me excited to work and brought about a passion that I feel has been missing for a long time.
This internship was more than just a professional engagement; it was a transformative journey. It boosted my confidence and underlined my ability to adapt swiftly to new technological environments, tasks and my communication/collaborative skills. The excitement and passion I felt daily were stark contrasts to my previous work experiences, affirming my desire to pursue fulfilling roles that leverage my newly refined skills.
As I look ahead, I am eager to apply these competencies in dynamic settings like those at iGames Inc., where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront.
For this internship, I ended being juggled between two departments within the LAN center program. I found this to be quite enjoyable as it allowed me to grow and learn new skills. I ended up as a partnership coordinator, finding clients, and setting up meetings.
Through my research I was able to find nearly 40% of all LAN center contacts and another 4% of developer contacts over the course of 4 months.
My internships at iGames has been pivotal in developing my communication and professional skills. I learned to effectively communicate across digital platforms, honing my ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely through professional emails and video conferences.
Throughout this internship, I've had the opportunity to expand my technological skills. With the help of my mentors, I have developed skills in programs such as Excel, HubSpot, Steam, and Outlook.

When I worked in the bakery, we had been slammed by holiday shoppers and many of my co-workers out due to COVID-19 outbreak. Recognizing the stress management was under, I, as a full-time college student, volunteered to cover shifts, which significantly eased the team’s workload and ensured timely delivery, exceeding the job requirements.
In college, I had a one-on-one with a professor that I greatly respect. During that meeting, he stopped and asked if I was willing to take criticism then proceed to tell me that I was controlling and needed to let others learn from their mistakes- not take on their responsibilities. I eventually learned to let go and "be more selfish", which has made me much happier person.
When I was 9, my father handed me a pair of gloves where I spent a few hours stacking wood while he cut. We took a water break, where my dad asked me why I thought he was making me work? He proceeded to tell me that the wood wasn't for me, but to help heat our home - it was for my mother and siblings. He told me that I was going to have to work for the rest of my life and to not work for the benefit of yourself, but the betterment of the people around me. This changed my mindset from a young age to dedicating my skills to serving the people around me.
I set a personal goal to start putting more effort into expanding my social network. I attended several workshops and networking dinners, volunteered for work fairs, and sought opportunities to talk to everyone wherever I go. Gradually, it became easier to just talk to people and I've been able to grow my network with people that I genuinely enjoyed talking to.
During my last semester in college, my team and I were going over a presentation before presenting to a couple of professors, when the Dean of Boise State's College of Business stepped in to say hi. My team and I then gave our half formed (suddenly needing to be very confident) presentation for the Dean. This experience taught me the importance of being flexible and being prepared for anything.
This Work U experience has not only improved and expanded my skill set, but more importantly, built up my own confidence that my skill set, abilities, and work ethic go above and beyond what is expected of most people. Although my career may not be in partnership coordination, I have learned many different skills that are transferable to any career I plan to go into.
I plan on searching for a job in the gaming industry as a project manager in January 2024. After this, I will be searching for a job to help support my sisters and I as we search for a house to call our own. I am very excited to explore the different opportunities within the industry and wherever God leads me.
